I DON'T WANT NO SCRUBS! | My Favourite 'LIQUIDY' Exfoliators

Let's be honest, we all love to scrub our skin...scrub it so hard it hurts! The grittier the better right? Well apparently this is not the case. Thanks to a skincare genius called Caroline Hirons, I have recently learnt that a person with combination/oily skin that is prone to breakouts should never actually scrub their skin with manual exfoliants and should use a topical exfoliant, which is one that generally contains acids. I'm going to call them 'liquidy' exfoliants for the purpose of this blog because it makes more sense in my head. Seeing I have been giving my skincare products a bit of an overhaul recently due to the easy access and affordability of great products in the UK, I decided to try these two liquidy" exfoliators that give my skin love with fruit acids and enzymes.

L-R: Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel (purchased from Mecca Maxima AUD$18),
Pixi Glow Tonic (purchased from the Pixie Boutique in Carnaby Street GBP£18)

Pixi Glow Tonic

Ahhh, the coveted Pixie Glow Tonic. This stuff is so popular, that you're lucky to even get a glimpse of it in the store.
It is always sold out. Also, it is a very exclusive product, which is really REALLY annoying and you can only purchase it from the little boutique store in London. Not even on the website! It's too good though. Basically, you use this stuff like a toner on a cotton round after you cleanse and it has fruit acids in it to gently exfoliate the skin without using abrasive scrubs. It's amazing stuff! It seems to correct ANY skin concern too...miracle? Congestion..gone. Dry skin...gone. Truly amazing stuff. I use it morning and night after I cleanse and I don't think I will ever use another product like it again.

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

Speaking of is a good one, that also contains some fruit bits and bobs. The Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel contains papaya enzymes and alpha hydroxy acid to prevent pore-clogging nasties. Now I use this stuff in the shower and massage a generous amount onto my dry face before I wet it. It's weird because this gel has a glittery sheen to it and doesn't really feel like it could possibly 'prevent pore-clogging' and be in any way 'cleaning'. But wait...use this for a couple of days and the texture of your skin after a shower will be as soft as a baby butt. And it seems to last forever too. GOOD.

Have you used any 'liquidy' exfoliators? What are your favourite skincare products at the moment?
Thanks for reading <3

  1. Ohh these sounds fabulous! I've never looked at the idea of using a non scrub exfoliator! The Pixi one sounds divine! xx

    1. i swear by that pixi one, just a shame it's a little hard to get x

  2. I've seen that Mario Badescu cleanser before and it intrigues me. Never heard of that Pixi toner though, but I live in the US so that's probably why.

  3. the enzyme cleansing gel sounds promising.
    A Beautiful Zen

  4. I have dry skin. So I've always used the grittier type of exfoliators because that's what my skin needs, but I agree those who have oily/combo skin need to stay away from that! Their skin isn't as touch as dry skin. This one looks like a promising product. I'm glad you were overall satisfied with this product :)

  5. aah i just couldn't get away with pixi glow tonic but the other one sounds really good!
