SEPHORA, POLITICS IN BEAUTY & THE KAT VON D OBSESSION CONT.

About a year ago, I got my first taste of Sephora. I had never been in one...can you believe? And to top it off, the first Sephora I ever entered was Sephora Times Square, NYC!

This whole obsession seems kinda stupid when you think about it (there are better things out there in life to focus on), but for somebody who had only over had access to some of these brands online, I was hooked and overwhelmed at what was in there.

This first visit to Sephora ignited my love for Kat Von D's brand when I found my now holy grail long-lasting liquid liner. The Tattoo Liner is purely insane - I used it once and returned to Sephora the following day to repurchase a back-up. Now I have two or three in my stash as back-up ALWAYS. I really believe there is a lot of creative heart behind this brand and that Kat Von D really embraces good morals and ethics. This is still important, even for a beauty brand.

2015 SKINCARE FAVOURITES

Over the last year or so I have experimented with many different cleansers and facial washes and I have to admit, it's really fun! Sad but true - experimenting and creating cleanser cocktails is what I do for fun on the weekend. But this is a different blog post for another time.

Today I wanted to talk about some skincare items that have been regular in my life throughout 2015.

CHRISTMAS SKIN TREATS feat. LUSH & FLEUR DE FORCE

Let's delve into my Christmas stocking! I was lucky enough to receive some lovely skin and makeup treats for Christmas this year - my housemates know me too well! I was very excited and the first thing I wanted to do (after smelling them over & over like a nutcase) was to take some snaps and share on here.

ILLAMASQUA HYDRA VEIL

Plump skin on your face is seriously one of the best feelings ever. Everything just works better when it's plump and smooth. Foundation smoothes on like a dream and powders seem to stay put. Ain't no time for a crusty base here!

RAPUNZEL HAIR | Irresistable Me Hair Extensions

I have never worn hair extensions until now. Rapunzel eat your heart out! I was kindly sent these beautiful hair extensions to try from the lovely PR team at Irresistible Me.

Irresistible Me is a new company that specialises in hair extensions and wigs, but have also delved into the realms of hair styling tools and hair care. In this secretive black box (this picture has the colouring of a horror movie, sorry! I was excited and took the photo at night!) I received TEN pieces of the Irresistible Me Royal Remy hair. I choose the light brown colour and it works perfectly with my own hair colour.

I used this video to choose the perfect colour.

Like I said, I've never worn hair extensions before so was pretty clueless about how to attach them. Luckily I watched a couple of YouTube videos and managed to get the hang of it fairly easily. They look lovely and natural and feel comfortable on the scalp.

Only one tip, NEVER use all ten pieces at once. You get a lot of hair! AND it's heavy! I think the most pieces I have used is maybe 5 or 6 (see above) and that seems to be plenty of hair.

I really like these and from what I've researched they seem to be some of the cheapest human hair extensions you can find, which is even better value for the amount of hair you receive in the black box. I think they look great and can't wait to try them out curled! What do you think?

APPRECIATION POST

If it wasn't for my good friend Lucy, this blog would not exist. And if it wasn't for Lucy, I would never have looked at this page again.

And so comes the appreciation post...

(Oh, this is Lucy by the way ^^)

From the very beginning, Lucy helped me out with building this blog, sharing on twitter and giving me the confidence to share my thoughts on the internet. Lucy has sat and been my guinea pig for many makeup looks, letting me smear new skincare products all over her and has never complained. She has been the driving force of all of my late nights pouring over Blogger, because at the end of it all I knew that SHE would read it and SHE would appreciate what I had to say. My #1 fan from the start, not only would she take the time to acknowledge what I was doing, Lucy would actively share my work with her friends and colleagues and seemed to be genuinely proud of me. This made me feel so special and confident.

Not only has she helped me feel more confident with my writing, Lucy has also helped me feel more confident with EVERYTHING. Work, friends, boys, clothes...you name it. She always has something encouraging to say in a way that made me feel at ease. Whilst I was here in London and she was at home in Australia, I would constantly message her for advice. She always urged me to go for that job I was thinking about applying for. She helped me to understand that I DID have skills and that I could do it all. In recent months she has been there through the hard times and has cried with me, and for that I can never thank her enough.

This is a special friend that I am very lucky to have. That I love with all my heart. And because of this beautiful soul, I am back to writing. Because SHE will read it.

I DON'T WANT NO SCRUBS! | My Favourite 'LIQUIDY' Exfoliators

Let's be honest, we all love to scrub our skin...scrub it so hard it hurts! The grittier the better right? Well apparently this is not the case. Thanks to a skincare genius called Caroline Hirons, I have recently learnt that a person with combination/oily skin that is prone to breakouts should never actually scrub their skin with manual exfoliants and should use a topical exfoliant, which is one that generally contains acids. I'm going to call them 'liquidy' exfoliants for the purpose of this blog because it makes more sense in my head. Seeing I have been giving my skincare products a bit of an overhaul recently due to the easy access and affordability of great products in the UK, I decided to try these two liquidy" exfoliators that give my skin love with fruit acids and enzymes.

Pixi Glow Tonic

Ahhh, the coveted Pixie Glow Tonic. This stuff is so popular, that you're lucky to even get a glimpse of it in the store.
